| Summary | 06956: add savestates, load .whdl_codedump files | ||||
| Description | It would be nice to have the possibility to save the state of a running program and load it later to continue. This would give the opportunity to continue long-running games and also to debug programs based on coredump files. Requirements: MMU available WHDLoad must be able to map all regions (Resload, Slave, ExpMem) to different logical addresses. Snoop must be used to have the read-only regs of Custom/CIA-registers in the CoreDump. But it may also work without it to some degree, e.g. OS-conform games. CoreDump must contain all relevant state information of WHDLoad. Maybe there are some missing ATM. First Step: A first step in this direction could be to stop a program, return to the OS and then continue the program. This would for example be helpful to fix exceptions, for debugging, or to make screenshots. This would work without memory remapping. | ||||
