| Summary | 0006811: DBLPAL | ||||||||||||
| Description | Biing supports DBLPAL/DBLNTSC modes. It works flawless when the game is installed via the offiziell Amiga DOS installer, and you select "DBLPAL Hires No Flicker" as monitor driver. Can you please add this to the slave? It flickers (black) a lot using your current WHDLoad patch. | ||||||||||||

doesn't whdload can start in DblPAL? never tried it |

I don't know. The only other game that has DBLPAL WHDLoad support seems to be Eye of the Beholder II. I tried it exactly as decribed in the EOB II Readme for Biing, but the game still starts in Interlaced mode (visible flickering). So, i thought the slave must support the DBLPAL mode on it own (my guess). But Wepl would know more. https://whdload.de/games/EyeOfTheBeholder2.html |

Biing needs the Intuition/CLI Screen to be in DBLPal in order too work in DBLPal. You cant set a screenmode in Biing/config itself, it just supports DBLmodes when "it sees it/ when the Workbench runs in such a mode. Hope that helps. cu |

Retro-Nerd (reporter) 2025-11-10 02:01 |
No, it doesnt't help. As is said, the game runs fine via DOS when the screen mode is set in the WB. WHDLoad ignores that though. You can't set anything in the Biing config. The game itself supports normal PAL/NTSC AND DBLPAL/NTSC modes. |

@retro - i know that, thats why i made a pretty easy fix for that, without WHDLoad ;) This should not help you retro (unless you are creating whdload slaves) but the creator of the slave. Biing needs a intuition/screen in DBLPAL DBLNTSC in order to work in that format. The game itself wont switch into that mode, the slave has to do it! (as far as i am aware, there is no intuitionscreen open function in WHDLoad - could be wrong tho. There would be a pretty easy fix but i wont spoil it for you greetings |

Slave needs assembled with PROMOTE_DISPLAY. I did that. Copy the monitor file into the install directory and try. |
|
Retro-Nerd (reporter) 2025-11-24 18:50 |
Unfortunately is doesn't work. The DblPAL monitor driver in place (install directory). But it crashed right after loading it into fastram. WHDLoad reports a "Couldn't load monitor!" message. |
|

It needs to be in the game's data directory. |
|
Retro-Nerd (reporter) 2025-11-24 18:55 |
I tried that too, of course. Tried even the data/data folder. No luck. |

From which OS release do you have taken the monitor file? The .info is not needed. You can remove this. You may try a monitor file from OS3.1 |
|
Retro-Nerd (reporter) 2025-11-24 19:40 |
Ah, that's it. I'm using WB 3.0 but softkicking a 3.1 rom. I replaced the old 3.0 monitor driver with the one from WB 3.1 and it works fine. Many thanks, again! |
