Summary0006784: A1200 KS3.1 WB3.1: Splash screen not showing
DescriptionFS-UAE A1200 with Kickstart 3.1 and Workbench 3.1, with added 8MB fastmem.

Slave version 1.3 for AGA. Splash screen does not display. Other game slave splash screens display fine. I have tried the usual options like splashdelay, nothing seems to have an effect. Nosplash is definitely not set anywhere.

Here's where it gets weird..
For Slave version 1.2a, the splash also doesn't show. HOWEVER if I open the ReadMe first from workbench (opens in multiview for me) then launch the slave, the splash shows!

Also, not sure if this is a clue, but the quitkey F10 (as stated in the ReadMe) doesn't work for me (tested in both 1.3 and 1.2a). I need to set the quitkey tooltype for this to work.

Hi,

Maybe install WDHLoad 19.2 Beta and retry it after.

Both version (AGA,ECS) were tested on my real A1200 PAL and under WinUAE too.

All works correctly with the latest slave.

I used WHDLoad 19.2 Beta on all of my systems.

I tried it too on my A500 ACA500plus in ECS Mode of course ... Same way, it works.

If it doesn't works with WHDLoad 19.2 Beta... Maybe it's a FS-UAE problem or a FS-UAE Bug...

Thanks for the response.
I was using 19.1, now upgraded to 19.2beta - I still get the same behaviour.
Also tried my hdf in Win-UAE and get the same behaviour.

How bizarre. Since the splash that appears for slave v1.2a after I open multiview has the 'start' button (and therefore needs actioning rather than just auto-disappearing), maybe it suggests that the slave isn't detecting something within workbench for some reason, so is not showing the splash? The game launches and runs fine either way.

Obviously not a big deal at all but is very interesting (at least to me!). Sadly I don't have access to the code or much Amiga knowledge to investigate further. If someone was interested, would I be allowed to share a cut-down version of my hdf? Thanks

Thinking back,

I already had this in some emulation games (WInUAE) while the same installation transferred to my real Amiga displayed the Splash screen.

At no time, the various commands about Splash Screen were present in my info files or in the WHDLoad configuration.

Indeed, I prepare and test all my installations under WinUAE OS3.5 before transferring them to my real Amiga (ACA500Plus & A1200 Both in OS HYPERION 3.1.4.1)

I have had the issue as well with AGA and CD32 slave, ECS is fine.

On my WB3.1 install i use as my daily driver, screen mode PAL High res (640x256), splash doesn't show.

OS3.9, screen mode 640x512, it does show.
