V. 1.02 interrupts very quickly (after 3-4 seconds) the in-between level intro loading/story screens. Easy to verify right from the start in the first intro screen. Also confirmed on World 2 (using the mexico password). V.1.01 will allow for 9-10 seconds.
The actual disk version takes even longer because it is loading, thus allowing the story to be read comfortably. Can't try the CD now but it makes sense to allow some time for the text to be read. The game does not behave in a "press fire to continue" way here.
Sorry if I can't provide more detailed/accurate info, currently using FS-UAE which comes with WHDLoad 18.5.

This had nothing to do with the slave version, latest version of Solid Gold (1.2) loads and decrunches faster than the older versions of the game. This made the level information screens disappear much faster. I have added ButtonWait support for the level info screens, the level info is diplayed for 10 seconds if no button or key is pressed before.
