Bonus levels loose sound effects. After you bounce back a pair of balls with the shield or kick some bombs off, sound effects will be muted. Music continues to play without problems but there are no more sound effects.
This happens only in bonus games.
A request: would be possible to fix music timing in NTSC mode? I ask you this because NTSC is perfect to play the game (faster also at "Normal" speed, no need to select "Swift", and gfx won't be squashed!) but music runs too fast and desynch'ed...

Regarding the sound effect issue, there is some info here: https://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?p=1748446

TL;DR seems to be line 225 (current slave) skipping lowering of IPL:

        PL_S $99a+$600,4 ;move #,sr

Would be best to analyze further (maybe this patch should not be done), but would recommend at least adding a custom option to not do the skip.

great news you're working on a final fix! :)
(Of course music replay in NTSC mode has been fixed already. This was a very old report)
