This install applies to "Megademo 2" © 1988 Megaforce.
Requirements:
-------------
This install requires WHDLoad and RawDIC to be in the path.
These programs can be found in the WHDLoad package.
To install from a different drive than DF0: select installation mode Expert.
The installed demo requires 0.5 MB ChipMem (+0.5 MB for preload).
It can be quit by pressing F10 (key can be changed with Tooltype "QuitKey=").
Features:
---------
- Full load from HD (real files!)
- All OS stuff patched
- Blitter wait added
- Wait for "Backspace" key before loading last part disabled
- Decruncher (ByteKiller) relocated and error check added
- Color flashing during decrunching can be enabled with CUSTOM1
- DMA wait in replayer fixed (x3)
- Byte write to volume register in replayer fixed (x3)
- DMA settings fixed
- 3 NewIcons (all created by me)
- Source code included as usual
- Quit option that works on 68000 machines (default key is 'F10')
And yet another patch for quite a classic demo is finished.
Yesterday I patched MFC's first megademo but encountered problems
with 2 of the parts that only appear on AGA machines and have no
idea yet how to fix them. Hence I started to patch MFC's megademo 2
when I arrived at work this morning and except for a problem with the
scroller in part 1 there were no major problems so everything was
finished after about an hour.
Crazy Typer made some really nice demos and this one is no exception,
it's still enjoyable almost 25 years after its initial release.
All parts were crunched with ByteKiller, I have relocated the decruncher
and added an error check, if decrunching fails WHDLoad will quit with
an appropriate error message. If you like the flashing colors during
decrunching that were in the original demo you can enable them with
the CUSTOM1 tooltype.
Apparently Crazy Typer's assembler had a bug as in the original
decruncher the instruction to calculate the checksum
(which wasn't checked anyway) was incorrect. Instead of "eor.l dx,dy"
it was "cmp.l dx,dy". There also still is the code for the ByteRun
decruncher even though it is not used in this demo, the first
megademo uses it.
There was a check for the backspace key before loading the last part,
I have no idea why and disabled it in this patch so you don't need to
press backspace to load the last part.
The 3d line vector in part 4 can be controlled with F1-F9 keys,
thought I'd mention it as there's no info about it in the demo.
The demo can be downloaded here:

Enjoy yet another classic demo from HD and have a nice summer everyone.
