This install applies to "Do the Bartman" © 1991 FreeHand.
Requirements:
-------------
This install requires WHDLoad and RawDIC to be in the path.
To install from a different drive than DF0: select installation mode Expert.
The installed demo requires 0.5 MB ChipMem (+0.8 MB OtherMem for preload).
It can be quit by pressing F10 (key can be changed with Tooltype "QuitKey=").
Features:
---------
- Full load from HD (real files!)
- OS stuff patched (system-friendly CIA interrupt -> $78.w)
- DMA wait in replayer fixed (x2)
- Illegal copperlist entries fixed (x3)
- Timing fixed
- Decruncher (ByteKiller) relocated to fast memory and error check added
- 2 NewIcons (created by me)
- Source code included as usual
- Quit option that works on 68000 machines (default key is 'F10')
No real code in the demo but the music is nicely made so it was worth
patching anyway. The MED replayer used a system-friendly CIA interrupt
which I had to completely recode to use the hardware but that wasn't much
of a problem. I have also optimised the RawDIC imager, all pictures are
saved with their real size instead of always using 40k (4 bitplanes).
Despite the info the in the demo claiming otherwise, not all pictures
use 4 bitplanes, some of them only use 3 bitplanes!
To save some HD space all files in the "data" directory can be packed
with any of the crunchers supported by WHDLoad (FImp, ProPack etc.). It
does not make much sense for file "00" though as that one is already
crunched with ByteKiller. I have relocated the ByteKiller decruncher
as usual and added an error check, if decrunching fails WHDLoad will
quit with an appropriate error message.
Enjoy the demo from HD.
