This install applies to "Kaiser" © 1989 Linel.
This install requires WHDLoad and DIC to be in the path.
These programs can be found in the WHDLoad package.
To install from a different drive than DF0: select installation mode Expert.
The installed game requires 1MB ChipMem (+2,6MB for Preload).
It can be quit by pressing F10 (key can be changed with Tooltype "QuitKey=").
The game requires an installed A500 Kickstart 1.3 image.
The kickstart image must be located in the directory "Devs:Kickstarts" and
must be named "kick34005.A500". The image can be extracted from a A500 with
tools like 'GrabKick' or similar which can be found on aminet.
If the image is of wrong version or altered in any way WHDLoad will quit with
an appropriate message.
Additionally the file "kick34005.A500.RTB" must be installed in the same
directory as the kickstart image. It can be found in the archive
"util/boot/skick346.lha" on aminet.

Here it finally is, the patch for Kaiser, another one that can finally
be removed from my long list of "to be done" patches! Took much longer to
do than expected due to various problems. First I used real files but that
didn't work correctly, the intro was displayed but once the main game
should be started nothing happened anymore, I wasted several hours
trying to find the reason, yet, without any success. Then I couldn't stand
these long and very tedious debugging sessions anymore and didn't work on
the patch for quite a while. Then, in January 2012, I had a look at it
again and finally found a solution to get the game running, I just used
disk images instead of real files which worked fine. Next problem was
patching the disk change which required quite a few hours of tedious
debugging again, turned out that I had to use a completely different
approach because for some reason trd_diskchange (part of the kickstart
interface in the WHDLoad package) didn't work correctly for whatever
reason. I only noticed this when trying to implement load/save support.
Once I used my very own approach for changing the disks these problems
were finally solved. Long story short, I'm happy that this patch is
finished, it was quite a bit of work!
The patch has a few extra features, which are explained below.
CUSTOM1=1 can be used to skip the intro.
If no save disk (disk.3) is found it will be created by the slave.
If you already have a save disk you can install it using the install package,
just select the appropriate option. You can either install the game only,
the game and a save disk or a save disk only.
Thanks to DerLegomann for images of one version of this game. Thanks
to myself for the other supported version as I own an original of
this game. :)
Enjoy the game from HD now!
