After I patched a lot of old Thrust demos this morning I remembered
another old German group which made some nice stuff back in the day.
Yes, it's Prophets AG and this vector demo, while not the most
entertaining demo, is still nice to watch. It features Tip's quite
fast line routine which he later released to the public. The demo
also features some nice music by T.A.R. (The Acustic Revolution),
definitely way ahead of its time when it comes to tracked music
from 1989, "snare slide" is still one of my favorites modules!
The code is quite good, not much had to be patched, I spent most
of the time recoding the scroller in the intro to use the hardware
instead of graphics.library functions (I hate demo patches that need a
Kickstart ROM!) but it was fun to do. I don't really understand
why this demo was released as a trackloaded one though as it only
consists of 2 small files. Since this patch uses real files that not
much of a problem any longer of course.
The demo can be downloaded here:
ftp://ftp.amigascne.org/pub/amiga/Groups/P/Prophets_AG/VECTORDEMO.DMS
Enjoy the demo from HD.
