This install applies to "Megademo 2" © 1989 Dexion.
Requirements:
-------------
This install requires WHDLoad and DIC to be in the path.
These programs can be found in the WHDLoad package.
To install from a different drive than DF0: select installation mode Expert.
The installed demo requires 0.5 MB ChipMem (+0.9MB for Preload)
It can be quit by pressing F10 (key can be changed with Tooltype "QuitKey=").
Features:
---------
- Full load from HD
- DMA wait in replayers fixed (x10)
- Byte write to AudXVol in replayers fixed (x5)
- Blitter waits added (x7)
- Access fault in 'Spindizzy' part fixed
- Logo movement in 'Bouncing Ball' part fixed
- Intro can be skipped with CUSTOM1=1 tooltype
- Keyboard handler added so quit is possible on 68000 machines
- NewIcon (created by me, if you have better icons feel free to send them)
- Quit option (default key is 'F10')
This is an old favourite of mine so I just had to make an installer for
it. Not very hard to fix, just the bug in Liteace's 'Bouncing Ball' part
where the moving logo would just not appear took me a few minutes to find.
It worked in the original demo just by coincidence as the upper part of
register d1 was cleared. Using a 32 bit addition with random values in
the upper part of the register is apparently not a good idea.
Anyway, that's now fixed. As is the access fault in the "Spindizzy" part,
due to a bug in the precalc loop a read access from $ffffffff happened.
It's interesting to see how the code quality differs in Liteace's and
Mr. Mega Mind's parts. All of Mr. Mega Mind's parts were coded very
clean, if all parts of the demo would have been coded by him this fix
would have been a 10 minutes job.
If you want to skip the nice but long intro part just use the CUSTOM1=1
tooltype, the demo will start with the loader part then.
You can download the demo from my ftp:
ftp://ftp.untergrund.net/users/StingRay/Sting/WHD/Dexion_Megademo2/Megademo2.lha
Please note that the images on the amigascne.org ftp are hacked/broken!
Have fun with yet another classic demo from HD.
Greetings to all in Scarab and Scoopex, the WHDLoad team and to Musashi5150 :)
Extra greetings to the usual suspects on #amigascne, see you all at
Breakpoint.
Cheers, Sting, 22-Feb-2009
