This is an old favorite of mine, I always liked this demo, nice music
and entertaining parts. I still have the disk from 1991 in my disk box!
Funnily enough Bass was a subgroup of Drifters once and I've been
a member of Drifters too some years ago (it looks like I coded the
last DFT Amiga demo ever!) so I just had to patch this demo. :)
I started to patch it yesterday evening, coded the RawDIC imager and
patched the boot and the loader part. I continued this morning when
I arrived at work where I fixed all the parts without a possibility
to check them. This I did once I came back home, amazingly enough almost
all parts worked perfectly. :) The code is quite good anyway so there
was not that much to fix. However, I had to add 959 (yes, nine hundred
and fifty nine!) blitter waits! 3 small routines took care of that so
it was quickly done. The blitter wait patches are only installed on
68010+ machines, you can force them on 68000 machines with CUSTOM1=1.
I have also added support for the ButtonWait tooltype, if enabled you
have to press right mouse button to start the next part, that way you
can listen to the nice loader tune. You will also have to press right
mouse button to start the loader part if ButtonWait is used.
Some interesting (or not) trivia: the demo used crypted files, the
key used to decrypt all parts is $30061973, you may have a wild guess
on which day the coder was born. :)
Enjoy this nice classic from HD. You can download it here:
